Why is there such a buzz about..?

Too Hot To Handle ( Netflix)

With Love Island reportedly still going ahead with its summer series despite the coronavirus pandemic, surely the last thing we need is another dating show set in an envy-inducing location while we’re all stuck in lockdown.

Following the success of Netflix’s smash hit, Love Is Blind, which saw couples dating in pods and getting engaged without even seeing each other face to face, the streaming giant has become the dating show connoisseur, and new Too Hot To Handle proves that even more.

Ten singletons from around the world arrive on a paradise island for what they think will be the most exotic and erotic summer of their lives – but there’s a twist. The commitmentphobes who love a casual hook-up will have to resist each other physically for the entire retreat if they want to win the $100,000 grand prize, which means no kissing or heavy petting of any kind. They are under the guidance of Lana, an Alexa-style smart device, who isn’t just sassy but sees all and lays down the law by punishing those who break the rules by removing money from the prize fund. In the first episode one kiss costs the group $3,000 alone.

It’s not the classiest of shows, with a lot of toe-curling flirting, but it’s definitely bingeworthy and full of colourful characters such as Rhonda Paul from Atlanta, who describes herself as someone who can have any boy she wants, and Mr Pennsylvania 2018 Sharron Townsend (both right). If you can’t be on a luxury beach holiday this summer, you may as well live vicariously through these contestants for some (very) clean fun.
