Is Keeler star Sophie about to bring us a new member of the Primrose Hill Set?
SHE made her name playing Christine Keeler, the showgirl at the heart of the Profumo Affair, the sex and secrets scandal that helped bring down a Conservative government.
But in real life, actress Sophie Cookson looks like she’s been carrying an even bigger secret of her own.
Dressed in a spotted maxi dress and long- sleeved top and pictured here st rolling with boyfriend Stephen Campbell Moore, the star appears to be preparing for a new role as a mother, 18 months after the couple first began dating.
If the actress is expecting, it would be her first child. Her 43-year-old boyfriend has a four-year-old daughter, Ivy-Rose, with his ex-wife Claire Foy, who starred as the Queen in the acclaimed Netflix drama The Crown.
Earlier this year Ms Cookson, 30, wowed critics and viewers alike in BBC 1’s The Trial Of Christine Keeler, in which she played the troubled Sixties’ model.
The drama told the story of how Harold Macmillan’s government was rocked in 1963 when War Minister John Profumo confessed in the Commons to having an affair – after first denying it – with the 19-year-old Keeler. She was also linked to Soviet spy Yevgeny Ivanov.
Ms Cookson met Mr Campbell Moore while filming the movie Red Joan in 2017.
They are central members of what is jokingly referred to as a large‘ luvvi e-go-round’ of the New Primrose Hill Set – showbiz stars who are all based in and around the smart North London enclave.
Ms Cookson’s close friend Lily James is in the gang, as is Lily’s on-off boyfriend Matt Smith, and of course Ms Foy.
Ms Cookson and Mr Campbell Moore met a few months before he and Ms Foy announced that their four-year marriage was over. A statement released in February 2018 said they had split up ‘some time’ before.
Sophie and Stephen’s romance was confirmed last summer when they were seen together at Wimbledon.
Last night, her spokesman did not respond to questions on whether the star is pregnant.
