WHO’S IN MY ALL-TIME XI?

-

IT is one thing if this were a team of our greatest players, but I’ve gone for a team skewed to players I love. For example, at centre-half obviously you have Tony Adams, the guvnor, my captain. Alongside him, the next best centre-back for Arsenal fans who could hold their noses long enough would be Sol Campbell who came from White Hart Lane. But I can’t bring myself to do it! I’ve gone for one I absolutely loved. He didn’t just give 100 per cent, he gave 1,000 per cent. If there was ever a fight needed starting, Martin Keown would be in the thick of it. Not as good a player as Sol, but a greater Arsenal figure.

Up front, Ian Wright has to be on the bench and he would get at least 20 minutes. Ian was utterly brilliant, but even he would accept my choice here. Who would be the manager? I could choose one of three. Herbert Chapman built Arsenal. George Graham won two league titles and a European trophy, which Arsene Wenger never did. But in the end, I have gone for Arsene Wenger, with the caveat: it would be when he was in charge during his first eight years.
