Scandal of sweatshops
In the closing decades of the last century, the once-thriving textile industry in Leicester was hit by cut-price competition from the Far East and Indian subcontinent, with their pitifully low wages. However, there has been a revival recently. It would be ironic if this resurrection was being facilitated by importing the same conditions and standards that led to its previous collapse.
