So THAT’S what they sound like!

First public words of Kate’s cuties as they interview Attenborough on his favourite animals – and whether he likes spiders

TIME was when Royal children were seen and not heard.

But yesterday the world got to hear the first official public words of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, thanks to a video released by their parents.

In an adorable break with tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge fi l med t he youngsters speaking directly down the camera lens as they put wildlife questions to Sir David Attenborough.

The footage, released on the Kensington Royal social media accounts, was shot last month, with Sir David recording his answers before he surprised the youngsters by appearing at Kensington Palace in person ten days ago.

Confident George, seven, dressed in his school sports kit, was the first to pose a question. He strikes a traditional Royal stance, with his hands behind his back, before asking: ‘Hello, David Attenborough, what animal do you think will become extinct next?’

Sir David says he hopes no more species will die out and recalls the success of his appeal to save gorillas from extinction 40 years ago.

Next comes Charlotte, wearing her school uniform of grey pinafore dress and white blouse. ‘Hello, David Attenborough, I like spiders. Do you like spiders too?’ she asks in a slightly nervous, but adorably sweet, rush.

The 94- year- old presenter is clearly delighted with her question, saying, ‘I love them!’ before musi ng t hat perhaps people were frightened of them because of their eight hairy legs.

However, it is two-year-old Louis, in a John Lewis striped jumper, who steals the show with his adorable mispronunciation of the word ‘animal’. In a clear voice, clutching a leaf, he takes a deep breath and says: ‘What amimal do you like?’

Smiling, Sir David replies: ‘I think I like monkeys because they’re such fun. They can jump all over the place… and they’re so funny.’

While the voices of the youngsters have been heard in the background before, the video marks the first time that they have spoken in public and marks a step in their gentle immersion into Royal duties.

The charming video was released to publicise the broadcaster’s new documentary, A Life On Our Planet, which he screened for William at Kensington Palace l ast month before meeting the children.

In a new ITV documentary to be screened tomorrow, William, 38, talks about how fatherhood has driven him to want to save wildlife, saying: ‘I was quite a happy-golucky young guy, enjoying parties and then all of a sudden you go, “Well hang on a second, there’s, there’s a little person here I’m responsible for…” Your outlook does change.’

What animal do you think will become extinct next?

I like spiders, do you like spiders too?

I love spiders, I’m so glad you like them!

What animal do you like?
