My miscarriage agony while live on radio, by Myleene Klass

- By Katie Hind SHOWBUSINESS EDITOR

MYLEENE KLASS today reveals she suffered a miscarriage while presenting a live radio programme – yet found the strength to finish the show.

In a moving interview with You magazine, the singer- turned- broadcaster describes how she went to the toilet during a break and realised she had lost her child. ‘I was on air. I went to the loo while the music was playing and there was blood everywhere. I didn’t know what to do. I had one hour left of my show.’

Distraught, she called her friend Lauren Laverne, the presenter of Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, who gently supported her through the rest of the show.

‘She said, “Do one link, take a breath, come out and call me.” She got me through. I did the next link and called her. We counted the links,’ she recalls. ‘I would go out, sob and come back in, take a deep breath and speak.’

Last year the 42-year-old revealed she had four miscarriages before the birth of Apollo, her son with fiance Simon Motson, in 2019. She has two older daughters by ex-husband Graham Quinn.

Speaking of her devastation at the first miscarriage, which happened while on holiday, she says: ‘Losing my first baby was howling at the moon territory, because the pain is just so guttural.’

Miss Klass, pictured right for You magazine, shot to fame as part of the band Hear’Say and now presents shows on Classic FM and Smooth Radio.

Tonight, she appears in ITV’s Dancing On Ice, although she admits her daughters had concerns over the ‘curse’ that often costs participants their relationships. But she told them: ‘I’d like you to have some faith in who your mum is.’
