Kylie’s new video gets the engagement rumours spinning around again
IT IS well over three decades since Kylie Minogue hit the upper reaches of the worldwide charts with Got To Be Certain.
Yet the matter of whether she is on the verge of getting married remains clouded in uncertainty for her legions of fans.
The diminutive star fuelled a fresh wave of speculation yesterday that she was about to tie the knot with boyfriend Paul Solomons when she posted an Instagram video in which she wears a ring on her engagement finger.
It came just two days after she denied he had popped the question after rumours swirled following actress Billie Piper referring to him as Ms Minogue’s ‘fiance’.
Mr So lo mons’s step mother Gloria appeared to confirm the good news when she said she was ‘thrilled’ and ‘excited’ that the couple were to marry. But hours later the Australian singer issued a denial on Twitter where she wrote: ‘‘#Lovers… we ALL love LOVE but rumours are getting out of hand!’
While she also posted an emoji of a ring, she clearly suggested she hadn’t recently received one that had a diamond in it.
But the rumour mill began again yesterday as the video showed Ms Minogue’s left hand resting on her right arm, giving a clear view of a sparkler. Dressed in a black polka dot blouse and matching miniskirt by the Spanish designer Emilio de la Morena, the 52- year- old captioned the clip :‘ M, T, W, T, F… it’s the weekend. Love to YOU !!’
Speculation began when Ms Piper, 38, recalled last week how Mr Solomons, 46 – the creative director at GQ magazine – took her to hospital after she fainted in a London club when she was 18.
She said: ‘It was 2000 when I passed out in a Covent Garden club – “foaming at the mouth”, apparently, but I have no reason to believe that.
‘My PR rang through to my hospital bed to fill in some blanks. I’d been carried out of the club by a man, apparently.
‘ A hero or a pest, I wondered. It’s always hard to tell. Later, I’d find out his name is Paul, like my dad.
‘He’ s Welsh, works at GQ and will, in time, become a dear friend, a blinding success and Kylie Minogue’s fiance. Hero, not pest. Kylie knows.’
Ms Minogue and Mr Solomons have been dating for almost three years after friends introduced them.
