MANY tour operators have already begun to switch their focus to next winter, when they hope ski holidays will be a more certain option. So if you too are thinking it might be safer to put off your trip until next year, here are some enticing deals to look forward to.

THE Portes du Soleil blends authentic Alpine villages with purpose-built ski areas to offer 400 miles of interlinked pistes spanning France and Switzerland.

However, many believe its main attraction is tasty cheese Reblochon! Its distinctive aroma, fruity and intensely nutty, wafts throughout the region, especially when melted over bacon, onions and potatoes in the skiers’ favourite dish of tartiflette.

Seven nights half-board from January 8, 2022, at Hotel La Clef des Champs in Morzine costs from £929pp (was £1,019), including flights, transfers and access to steam room and whirlpool (inghams.co.uk).

Alternatively, step out on a balcony to feast your eyes on the Purcell peaks of British Columbia at the Canadian resort of Panorama.

It’s also possible to get your first taste of helicopter skiing for £565pp for three runs, including all equipment and guide (rkheliski. com). From the dizzy glacial heights of 13,000ft on the Klein Matterhorn, ski into Zermatt, Switzerland, or take the 12-mile descent to Valtournenche, neighbouring your resort of Cervinia.
