The rear view Carol won’t show us!

STUNNING: WHAT SHE SEES FROM THE BALCONY AT THE FRONT OF HER FLAT RUBBLE-STREWN: THE BUILDING SITE EYESORE BEHIND HER APARTMENT

- By Richard Simpson

CAROL VORDERMAN has spent the past few months wowing her Instagram followers with the panoramic views of the dramatic Pembrokeshire coastline she enjoys from the balcony at her staycation home.

Such stunning images prompt appreciative responses from fans. ‘Wow, what an amazing view,’ gasped one. ‘Beautiful setting,’ gushed another.

But, perhaps ironically for a two-time Rear of the Year winner, the broadcaster is less keen to show the back side of her clifftop apartment.

For the reverse view of her stylish £350,000 property reveals an ugly construction site, complete with drab builders’ shack, a skip and wasteland strewn with debris spilling out from under plastic sheeting.

The eyesore seen in our photograph may be there for some time, too, as The Mail on Sunday understands that a development of six new luxury homes on the site has hit a planning stalemate.

But it has not stopped the 60-year-old enjoying her time in the apartment, which she bought in November 2019.

She has recently cut back on her TV work to spend more time relaxing, sharing pictures and videos of herself walking, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and just chilling on the beaches near her South Wales home with her 122,000 Instagram followers. ‘Living the dream,’ she posted last weekend.

Last month, Ms Vorderman revealed she was enjoying a slower pace of life after decades of juggling work and family commitments. ‘It’s my dream after 40 years of chasing around being the breadwinner, the single mum, the carer for my mother, running businesses, all of it,’ she said. ‘Now I like just chilling out, really.’

And she wrote on social media: ‘I grew up in North Wales, and to see the sea and the mountains and the cows and sheep and green, green grass. It fills my heart to bursting point.’

The former Countdown star still presents a weekly BBC Radio Wales show and the annual Pride of Britain Awards, and offered free maths lessons online during the lockdown.
