A RECORD Harrogate league crowd of 3,180 were treated to a thrashing of Scunthorpe. Braces from Jack Muldoon and Alex Pattison, as well as a Jack Diamond strike, saw the hosts lead 5-0 at the break and, although Harry Davies replied in the second half, Danilo Orsi’s penalty wrapped up the rout.

Harrogate manager Simon Weaver heralded an ‘epic’ and ‘monumental’ first half. ‘It was great to capitalise on the feelgood factor,’ he said. ‘Everybody is

really in this together and there’s a great vibe within the club.’

FOREST GREEN 0 SWINDON 2

SWINDON gained the west country bragging rights, thanks to goals from Harry McKirdy and Tyreece Simpson. Winning manager Ben Garner praised McKirdy. ‘Harry is an outstandin­g talent,’ he said.

BARROW 1 LEYTON ORIENT 1

MARK COOPER was left with mixed emotions after his Barrow side had to settle for a point. ‘We didn’t play as well and we got caught up in a scrap,’ he said. Omar Beckles netted his third goal of the campaign for the visitors to cancel out Robbie Gotts’s opener.

STEVENAGE 2 EXETER 2

ELLIOTT LIST scored twice to earn Stevenage a point, after Exeter had twice led through Sam Nombe and Matt Jay. Borough boss Alex Revell said: ‘When we have belief in our play, we’re unplayable.’

MANSFIELD 0 OLDHAM 0

MANSFIELD boss Nigel Clough was proud to see his injury-ravaged team take a point against fellow strugglers Oldham. ‘We just have to fight against all the odds and adversity,’ said Clough. Oldham boss Keith Curle added: ‘It’s a third clean sheet in four.’

ROCHDALE 0 CRAWLEY 1

JOHN YEMS hailed the bravery and honesty of his Crawley team. ‘We put bodies on the line and I’ve said that since I’ve been in the job,’ he said. Yems Kwesi Appiah scored the only goal.

NEWPORT 0 BRADFORD 0

NEWPORT interim manager Wayne Hatswell maintained his unbeaten start, but felt his side should have claimed another win. ‘We didn’t have that little bit of luck when the ball fell in the box,’ he said.

SUTTON 4 PORT VALE 3

COBY ROWE was the stoppage-time hero for Sutton. Rob Milsom, a Ben Garrity own goal and Will Randall had drawn the hosts level after Michael Smith, Jamie Proctor and Tom Conlon had seemingly secured Vale the win.

But Rowe had the final say.

HARTLEPOOL 2 NORTHAMPTO­N 1

DAVE CHALLINOR said his Hartlepool players ‘showed character’. Luke Molyneux hit the winner, after Sam Hoskins’s opener for Northampto­n was cancelled out by David Ferguson.

BRISTOL ROVERS 3 CARLISLE 0

GOALS from Antony Evans, Sam Nicholson and Harvey Saunders eased the pressure on Joey Barton. The manager said: ‘One swallow doesn’t make a summer and we’ve got work to do. We’ll be back in on Monday, back on the training ground.’

WALSALL 2 SALFORD 1

CONOR WILKINSON scored an injury-time winner for Walsall. Kieran Phillips put the hosts ahead, but Ash Eastham levelled. Walsall manager Matthew Taylor said: ‘We’ve got to be ruthless.’
