England is falling into the abyss of fascism

Jonathon Shafi: The UK’s protest backlash shows the fragility of our political class The ruling elites will do anything to continue to rule. They cannot understand the concept of the great unwashed having an opinion that differs to theirs.

The threatening by Sunak, an unelected leader of the Tories (historically the class enemy of the working classes), to suspend or remove the rights to demonstrate or strike, proves that England as the UK has all but fallen into the abyss of fascism.

To stand outside No 10 and articulate that the electorate had gotten it wrong in voting George Galloway as its representative in the English Parliament goes to prove that Sunak believes that our vote means nothing. His understanding of Britishness is nothing but a false memory. Sandy Allan

The Scottish people need to rebel now more than ever against a dictatorship which will strip us of our rights and our assets, neither of which they have the authority to do. I wish we would just leave this abusive, toxic non-union. I also wish the other Celtic nations would do the same. We all have a RIGHT to self-government.

Chancellor set to ignore Ross’s windfall tax pleas

Deliriously deluded Dougie doesn’t have the integrity to take a red face, in fact he’s ignored so often in Westminster he thinks that’s normal.

Alastair Gordon

Another wide-open goal for the SNP to prove yet again that Westminster is failing Scotland and the Union is more like the parrot in the infamous Monty Python sketch every day that passes.

As for Douglas Ross and the rest of the Scottish Tories, I suspect a small army of brass polishers will need to be enlisted (again) so that they can even lift their heads off their desks for Thursday’s FMQs.

Honestly I care nothing for the Tories but it must say something when Westminster Tories simply ignore Scottish Tories in the same way they ignore the SNP. Sandy Walker

Nuclear ban treaty a ‘golden key’ in post-independence talks with UK, SNP told

Scotland has to live in the real world of the 21st century, and that world is nasty. It’s high time that left-wing idealists faced up to the unpleasant fact that Russia and China pose real threats not just to the countries which are geographically close to them, but also to those, such as Scotland, which are far away.

If we are to preserve the way of life we cherish with all its diversity, freedom of expression and cultural pluralism, we need the shield of the nuclear umbrella to survive.

Stephen Davis

Well, the chess moves here need to be thought through quite carefully. I’m not sure whether it’s a golden key or a golden something else.
