Why Planes Vanish: The Hunt For MH370 (BBC1, 8pm)

MALAYSIA Airlines Flight MH370 disappeare­d on March 8, 2014, after it took off from Kuala Lumpur, heading to Beijing, with 239 passengers and crew on board. It remains the biggest mystery in modern aviation, and the search to find it is the world’s longest hunt for any jet. Recently, some of the families of the passengers who were on board the flight have called for a new investigat­ion. And now, as fresh evidence emerges of the aircraft’s possible location through the use of pioneering radio technology, this hourlong documentar­y hears from students at the University of Liverpool who are undertakin­g a new study to verify how viable the technology is.

The Rise And Fall Of Boris Johnson (C4, 9pm)

TAKING inspiratio­n from his hero Winston Churchill, Boris Johnson dominated British politics over a tumultuous decade. Through rare archive footage and with access to those with intimate knowledge of Johnson over the years, this two-part programme hears from both his friends and enemies to reveal his true persona. Tonight’s first part examines how Johnson’s early years shaped his political views and how the rivalries of his youth would dictate the key decisions he made.

Bring The Drama (BBC2, 9pm)

THEY have already tested their skills on a soap opera, forensic drama and crime drama, and now the would-be actors head to the set of hit medical series Casualty in Cardiff. Here they need to deliver convincing reactions to life-and-death hospital situations, while also conveying the characters’ personal narrative. The individual­s find the filming much tougher than they had expected, but Charles Venn, who plays nurse Jacob Masters on the long-running show, is on hand to give them some tips.

The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute By Minute (C5, 9pm)

THE Titan submersibl­e went missing on June 18, 2022, after setting out on an expedition to explore the wreckage of the Titanic. This two-part documentar­y examines the internatio­nal rescue mission and race against time to try and save the people on board. In tonight’s first edition, we see how communicat­ion with the sub is lost. Concludes tomorrow.
