SEAN’S GEDD-ING BACK TO HIS BEST

-

WORCESTER City boss Carl Heeley has backed returning midfielder Sean Geddes to recapture the form that made him a terrace hero.

Geddes, 24, scored 17 goals in 44 games for the Blues in 2014-15, including a spectacular rabona in an FA Trophy game against Barrow that drew 2m hits on YouTube.

But Geddes failed to hit those heights last season, scoring just four times before dropping down a division to re-join home town club Stourbridge in December.

However, after two goals in 27 games for the Glassboys, he has accepted an offer to return – and Heeley thinks the tough times are over.

“Sean has unbelievable ability, which is way above National League North,” said Heeley. “We were lucky enough to see those qualities during the memorable cup runs and, of course, with that rabona kick.

“He convinced me the hunger to get back to his best form was as strong as ever. He can easily get 20 goals a season and I want to give him that opportunity again.”

Heeley has also swooped for midfielder Richard Batchelor from rivals Brackley Town. The 28-year-old is a ball winner who previously played for Leamington, Chasetown and Romulus.

“Richard will bring a physical presence and strong leadership qualities that will complement the excellent footballers we currently have,” added Heeley.

“He is a player that opponents hate playing against as he is a tough competitor.”
