GULLS FANS SO TIRED OF GAMES

-

TORQUAY UNITED Supporters’ Trust have called for clarification on the National League club’s takeover by Gaming International.

The Gulls announced in March they had signed a memorandum of understanding, and the two parties were in the process of due diligence.

But TUST have expressed their “fear that such prolonged uncertainty may now be jeopardising the club’s future”.

In a memo sent out to their members, TUST said: “As of July 1 it is three months since Gaming International’s interest was publicly announced. Since then supporters have heard next to nothing about the progress, or otherwise, of the deal.

“Now, with the new season rapidly approaching, TUST believes it is time for the board to tell supporters exactly what is going on.

“The scheduled shareholders’ AGM on July 11 represents the perfect opportunity for the chairman and directors to address the following questions: 1:What – or who – is the reason for the takeover not being completed by the end of May as promised?

“2:TUST is led to believe the extended period of exclusivity expired on July 1. Does this mean the Gaming International deal is dead?

“3: If there is to be no deal with Gaming International is there an alternative investment plan? If so, what is the progress?

“4:What reassurance can the board give that we will be in a position to sustain football at the club for the duration of the 2016-17 season?”

Meanwhile, the club, who looked doomed to relegation from Step 1 last season before a remarkable turnaround under boss Kevin Nicholson, have announced a skate clothing company 420 Skatestore as their new shirt sponsor.
