HENDON will meet Farnborough in today’s final of the Hendon Invitational Trophy after both won their semi-finals.
Hendon were 2-0 victors over Carshalton Athletic while Boro needed penalties to see off Slough Town after a goalless draw.
Hosts of the tournament Hendon took their lead when Spencer McCall took a short pass, turned the defender and fired past Jack Hinchin.
The game was made safe ten minutes into the second half when a short pass from Omar Vassell was turned into the net by Karl Oliyide.
In the second game of the day, Farnborough were a perfect four from four in the shoot-out, whilst Slough missed twice, both Gurkan Gormen and Losasso being denied by the Boro keeper.
Elsewhere, a one-sided second half saw National League North Stalybridge Celtic cruise to a 4-1 victory against League Two Accrington.
The teams had gone in level at half-time after Adam Farrell’s header was cancelled out by a Stanley triallist. Darius Osei, Danny Pilkington and Aaron Chalmers all netted in the second half to hand the hosts a comfortable win.
Two late goals sealed the victory that Braintree’s superiority deserved against Lowestoft as the visitors turned out 3-1 winners.
In an evenly contested first half Lowestoft had taken an early lead with Ryan Jarvis’ right wing corner partially cleared to Andrew Fisk whose volley from the edge of the area took a deflection on its way in.
Braintree equalised in the final minute of the first half as Harry Lee drilled in a low 25yard effort.
The Iron took a firmer hold on proceedings in the second period but had to wait until the 84th minute before moving ahead with Jack Midson turning in a low cross.The win was sealed three minutes from the end as substitute Isaac Galliford steered home from the edge of the area.
Stratford’s eye-catching pre-season form continued as Mike Taylor’s hat-trick powered them to a convincing 4-0 win over old rivals Stourbridge.
