RYAN PLOTS A DRAGONS JOB

-

RYAN ROBBINS has warned Wrexham to underestimate Step 4 Stamford at their peril. The Evo-Stik NPL Division One South Daniels have played six FA Cup ties – including replays with St Neots Town and Gresley – to equal their best ever run in the competition. Goals from striker Robbins and Oliver BrownHill saw them past AFC Mansfield in the previous round and set up a home date from the National League Dragons. Robbins hopes home advantage can help Stamford cause an upset – and says his team-mates believe they can do just that. “I think we have enough in the dressing room to upset them – big time,” Robbins said. “There is no pressure on us whatsoever, but we’re not there to make up the numbers, that’s for sure. “They’re in Non-League and so are we. It’s the FA Cup so anything can happen. It’s an advantage being at home because we will have the fans behind us. Hopefully they turn up in force. First things first, we’ve got to concentrate on our other games, but we’re feeling confident. If we play to our potential and play how we can, then we can upset teams. “The one thing they don’t want to do is underestimate us because it will bite them where it hurts.” Robbins was on holiday the last time Stamford reached this stage. That was two years ago when they eventually lost to Hednesford Town. This time he’s hoping to help the cause and achieve his dream of playing in the FA Cup first round proper. “This is the furthest I’ve been in the FA Cup and to get into the first round would be a dream come true,” Robbins said. “We know it will be tough but we’re 90 minutes away from making history. “There’s a buzz about the FA Cup. To be a part of the draw for the first round would be a dream come true.”
