Four-some Crusaders run riot

- By Jack Smith

CONCORD RGRS 2 HUNGERFORD T 4

TONY STOKES netted on his Concord return but two late goals for the hosts only served to give a more positive look to the scoreline as Hungerford won comfortably.

The visitors started well and they took the lead as a poorly dealt with ball fell to Louis Soares who placed a perfect left-footed shot into the top left corner.

The lead was doubled just before half-time, Rhys Tyler arriving at the right time to rilfle home a corner at the near post.

Steve Cawley could and probably should have got his side back into it minutes later as the ball sat up for a left-footed volley which he narrowly put over the bar.

The Crusaders looked in no mood to let their lead slip and added a third as James Clark was allowed space to strike low inside the left post.

Stefan Brown was introduced and scored shortly after. Town were awarded a penalty which Brown dispatched with ease.

The hosts surprisingly began knocking the ball around well late on and upon his return to the club, Stokes scored a magnificent consolation goal. An ambitious flick from an acute angle lobbed Paul Strudley and fell into the bottom right corner.

Concord took a bit of the gloss off their visitors’ win as Cawley added a second in injury time.
