YEOVIL TOWN 2 SOLIHULL MOORS 2

- By Chris Spittless

MARCUS BIGNOT was quick to deflect focus on his rumoured departure from Solihull Moors as he paid tribute his side’s battling comeback against League Two outfit Yeovil Town.

Bignot is expected to take over the reins at Grimsby Town this week, but his mind was fully on the action at hand as Jack Byrne scored twice from distance to ensure a replay at Damson Park.

The Glovers had appeared to be cruising into the second round when goals from Ryan Hedges and Otis Khan gave them a commanding advantage.

But that wasn’t the case as Solihull seized their opportunity after Kevin Dawson’s dismissal for two yellow cards.

Byrne’s double sent the travelling fans wild and for Bignot, it marked a special occasion as he celebrated his team’s deserved success.

“Days like this in the FA Cup don’t come around too often so today isn’t about me, it's about this football club and the result we’ve achieved,” he said after getting the bumps from his players at full-time.

And despite watching his side let a secondround spot slip from their grasp, Yeovil boss Darren Way refused to focus at the negatives.

“We’ll be in the hat for the next round and our players will learn a lot from that experience today,” he said.

“Most of them haven’t been involved in an FA Cup tie like that before today and we live to fight another day.”

Bignot may not be there for the replay but his team will no doubt want to complete the job for him on Tuesday week– whatever happens.
