SEASIDERS HIT GULLS FOR SIX

- By Richard Murrill

FOLKESTONE Invicta enjoyed their biggest win of the season so far as they hit five secondhalf goals against an out of sorts Canvey Island.

The home side led 1-0 at half time thanks to a 37th minute Frankie Chappell header after Ronnie Dolan’s free kick.

Joe Taylor made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute when he slotted the ball into the net after being put through by Ian Draycott.

Draycott himself then scored when he headed in a 65thminute Jordan Wright cross.

And it was four in the 70th minute as Miles Cornwell emphatically lifted the ball over the goalkeeper after Dolan’s pass through.

Substitute Carl Rook added to the home side’s tally with a sublime 86th-minute chip after Chappell had headed the ball forward.

Cornwell tcompleted the scoring when he smashed the ball into the net in the 89th minute following a Rook interception.

Earlier, Invicta goalkeeper Tim Roberts had made several good saves to keep the visitors at bay – including one in the sixth minute to deny striker Martin Tuohy.

Roberts made a good 24thminute save to keep out a George Sykes shot, and had denied Omar Lawson just before half-time.

The victory was an important one for the Seasiders who moved even further away from the relegation zone.
