TRULY SIX OF THE BEST

- By Stephen Darby

TRURO CITY 6 FROME TOWN 1

A RUTHLESS display of finishing helped Truro City romp to their biggest win of the season as they racked up a fourth successive victory.

There was little between the sides until midway through the opening half when Frome skipper Sam Teale was adjudged to have pushed Durrell Berry as he burst into the box. City’s top scorer Niall Thompson took his tally to ten by converting from the spot.

Three minutes later the score was 2-0 when Aaron Bentley beat the Frome offside trap as the visitors pushed out and kept his cool to finish well.

Teale was denied just before the break by a good save from Martin Rice, back at Treyew Road for a fourth spell after leaving Gosport Borough.

But any thoughts Frome had of getting back into the match after the break were ended when Andrew Neal made it 3-0 from the penalty spot after Thompson had been brought down.

River Allen added City’s fourth from Neal’s pass and Allen was gifted his second after a mistake by Frome keeper Kyle Phillips, who missed his clearance attempt.

Substitute Mike Bryant scrambled a goal back for Frome before a sumptuous half-volley by Bentley five minutes from time wrapped up a satisfying day for the hosts. STAR MAN: Aaron Bentley (Truro City) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
