-

BISHOP Auckland have launched their own match day radio station. It will allow fans who cannot attend games to listen in and follow the fortunes of the Northern League outfit from wherever they are.

Sponsored by World of Iron, the station, Bishop Auckland FC Radio, has been set up by the club’s head of PR Dean Maynard, who owns Team Midas, a PR and social media management firm.

He said: “Nothing will ever beat attending the games at Heritage Park, but some fans might not able to attend due to work or other genuine commitments.”

Chairman Nick Postma said: “I am so happy to see the launch of our new radio station which will widen the club’s profile locally, nationally and internationally. The station can be accessed at mixlr.com/bishop-auckland-fc-radio

BIG-HEARTED Shepshed Dynamo players, officials and supports have rallied round to raise money for a local youngster with a hearing problem.

Eight-year-old Daniel Burke suffers from cholestatoma, a skin growth which leads to a constant discharge from both ears and severely impaired hearing.

His parents launched the Daniel Burke Cholestatoma Support Fund, and The Midland League Premier Division outfit held a fundraising appeal for Daniel. A collection was made at their recent home game against Long Eaton United – and the proceeds from the clubhouse swear box was also handed over.

In total, £500 was raised. Daniel’s dad, Phil Burke, said: “I am totally amazed, grateful and humble.”
