SLOUGH TN 3 KETTERING T 2

- By Matt Webb

SLOUGH looked comfortable in taking all three points until the Poppies twice struck in the last few minutes to give the Rebels a late scare.

Kettering arrived having won their last three league games but were second best for most of this match.

Charlie Moone opened the scoring with less than two minutes played as he ran clear and fired into the bottom corner.

Moone could have had a second on 22 minutes, but he chipped wide.

But six minutes later he did find the net again, playing the ball past Poppies keeper Dean Snedker at the second attempt after his initial effort was blocked.

Things got no better for Kettering in the second half and the Rebels added a third with a superb individual goal from James Dobson. The winger nutmegged his marker and sprinted clear before rounding Snedker to slot in.

With the Poppies being frustrated by the offside flag when attempting to mount attacks, Slough looked to be coasting to victory – but Aaron O’Connor found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to pull one back with a minute left.

Moone then missed a golden chance to seal his hat-trick, before Rene Howe reduced the deficit further three minutes into stoppage time – but there was no more time for Kettering to find an equaliser. STAR MAN: Charlie Moone (Slough Town) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
