IT’S TWO IN, ONE OUT IN GRAND YORK BID

- By Sam Elliott

GARY MILLS hopes two big signings can save York City’s skins – as Richard Brodie was finally bombed out to Boston United.

It’s been a week of change for the troubled Minstermen, who are facing back-to-back relegations unless they can amend their National League form fast.

Mills’ appointment is yet to spark City into life as they sit bottom of the table with just one league win since their iconic former manager returned from Wrexham.

He certainly has York’s fans on his side after they re-signed former hero Danny Parslow on loan from Cheltenham on Thursday until the end of the season.

The strugglers also added Robins striker Amari Morgan-Smith as they look to change their attacking approach after offloading Brodie, 29.

The double signing arrives after Forest Green recalled defender Aarran Racine and striker Rhys Murphy from loan spells.

Mills was thrilled with the deals, especially with the return of cult hero Parslow who he hopes can inspire the club like he did before.

“Danny won promotion with Cheltenham last year and was in the league’s Team of the Year,” the manager said.

“I don’t really have to tell the people of York anything about him.

“He was one of the best central defenders in the league last season and getting him back here can only be a good thing for us.

“Bringing Amari in will give us something different in attack so it’s been a productive couple of days.”

But one player who returned to York didn’t work out – Brodie has left to link up with new Boston United boss Adam Murray having signed for City in the summer.

It is hoped that the two-time Conference champion can inspire the Pilgrims to the National League North play-offs and Murray said: “I know what Richard can bring it’s fantastic news for the club.”
