FOLKESTONE I 2 WORTHING 4

- By Richard Murrill

LLOYD DAWES and Louis Clark doubles kept Worthing's play-off aspirations alive at the Fullicks Stadium.

Dawes opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he converted David Ajiboye’s ball in from the right-hand side of the penalty area.

It was 1-1 in the 30th minute when Jordan Wright netted seconds after Worthing keeper Jack Fagan had made a great save to keep out a Joe Taylor header.

Clark restored the visitors’ lead from close range in the 33rd minute when Dawes' shot came back off the post.

Invicta were level again in the 47th minute when Ian Draycott tapped in Taylor’s left-wing cross.

Worthing soon took the lead for a third time when an Ajiboye ball in from the right was converted by Clark in the 50th minute.

It was 4-2 in the 60th minute when Dawes struck again after being played in by Clark.

Worthing keeper Fagan made several good saves but suffered a wrist injury midway through the second half and was replaced by the youth team’s Ethan Belward.

Belward soon denied Draycott, and the visitors had chances to increase their lead further.

The best came in stoppage-time when Harvey Sparks put Clark through, but Liam Friend denied the latter his hat-trick with a last-ditch intervention.
