CAMBRIDGE C 3 SLOUGH T 4

- By Andy Abbott

CLINICAL finishing and indifferent defending enabled Slough to continue their play off push with victory over Cambridge City.

The hosts made the early running, and in the fourth minute, Goldy Capela missed the target rather than finding Mat Foy unmarked at the back post.

The Lilywhites were left to rue their error seven minutes later when James Dobson’s cross was only half cleared and it fell nicely for Simon Dunn to volley into the top corner

Home goalkeeper Dean Snedker had not had a serious shot to save but just after the half hour mark, he spilled Warren Harris’ rasping effort to give Gavin James a simple task to score.

Ross Patterson then pulled a goal back for the hosts and they should have been level in first-half stoppage time when Salim Relizani fired over.

Again the Rebels made the home side pay five minutes into the second period, when Chris Flood was given the time and space to pick his spot.

Mark Nisbet gifted City a lifeline, handling a Ryan Shaman shot with 15 minutes left, allowing Relzani to atone for his earlier miss from the spot.

And Harris wrapped matters up for the visitors with seven minutes remaining, before Jordan Gent got another consolation for the home side right on the final whistle.
