ENFIELD TOWN 2 MERSTHAM 3

- By Ken Brazier

DEAN McDONALD’S double strike dented Enfield's promotion hopes and maintained lowly Merstham's improved run of away results.

Town took a 23rd-minute lead after they were awarded a penalty when Oliyide was brought down by Kristian Campbell.

Billy Crook tucked away the spot kick to Moatsiders keeper Josh Smith's right.

But two minutes later Dan Bennett equalised for Merstham when he ran through the inside-right channel and finished with aplomb.

McDonald came close for the Meoatsiders and, at the other end, Oliyide had a left foot effort wide from Mickey Parcell's pass

Within the first ten minutes of the restart Oliyide was twice thwarted.

But in the 56th minute an unmarked McDonald headed past his off-balance namesake Nathan McDonald in Town’s goal.

Within another three minutes, Town levelled again, Samir Bihmoutine chasing what looked like a lost cause and pulling the ball back from the byline for Oliyide to apply the finishing touch.

Merstham won it on 87 minutes when McDonald was gifted possession in a dangerous position and finished coolly.

There was still time for Oliyide to throw himself at a Devyne cross but Merstham held on to get out of the bottom four.
