Sam is the man for Marketmen

- By Jim Rowe

SAMUEL DUNN capped a startling Needham Market comeback to clinch a sevengoal thriller between two worthy promotion contenders.

The Marketmen leapfrogged ten-man Tonbridge Angels into third place after the hosts suffered through injury and ill-discipline.

Angels keeper Anthony Di Bernardo had to be replaced by goalkeeping coach Stuart Copeland at half-time.

And eight minutes after the break, Udo Udogi saw red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Tonbridge had been in control. Alex Akrofi fired straight at Needham keeper Danny Gay on 13 minutes.

And five minutes later they led when Udogi headed home Tom Phipp’s angled cross.

The Angels doubled their advantage eight minutes before the interval when Luke Allen’s perfect delivery from the left found Elder who headed home his 50th goal for the club.

Four minutes into the second half, the visitors pulled a goal back when experienced striker John Sands beat Copeland.

Three minutes later, Tonbridge restored their twogoal lead with a Mitchell Nelson header.

But Udogi was dismissed a minute later and from then on the home defence were struggling.

Needham Market pile don the pressure and three goals in the final 27 minutes snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

The comeback started when Luke Ingham scored on 63 minutes.

The Marketmen equalised on 77 minutes through Reece Dobson.

And the comeback was complete with five minutes of normal time remaining, Samuel Nunn scoring the crucial goal. STAR MAN: Luke Ingram (Needham Market) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
