Roman has nose for vital goal

WINGATE & F 2 MET POLICE 3

MET POLICE twice came from behind to beat play-off chasing Wingate & Finchley 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at the Maurice Rebak Stadium.

Wingate dominated the first half and could have broken the deadlock when Spencer McCall’s powerful drive was well saved by Met keeper Brannon Daly. McCall went close again but this time his effort flashed wide.

The hosts finally made the breakthrough seven minutes after the restart when Sean Cronin’s perfectly placed pass over the Met Police defence found Rob Laney, who teed up Ben Pattie to tap into an empty net.

But the visitors were level a minute later. Tanasheh Abrahams clumsily fouled in the box and Charlie Collins converted the resulting penalty.

Met Police grew in confidence and Ola Sogbanmu’s volley was parried away by Gate keeper Shane Gore, before Sogbanmu’s cross found the unmarked Lloyd Macklin, who could not find the target.

Wingate went back in front when Reece BecklesRichards beat the offside trap after being played in by Tommy Tejan-Sie and curled the ball into the net.

Once again the lead lasted a matter of minutes as a floated free-kick was turned in by defender Ollie Robinson.

Tejan-Sie had two great opportunities to find a Wingate winner. He fired wide after collecting a pass on the edge of the box and Daly made a low stop to deny his second attempt.

That save proved to be crucial as Roman MichaelPercil soon put Met Police ahead for the first time.

Wingate fail to clear their lines, leaving Michael-Percil free to fire home across Gore and see his side take home all three points.
