RANGERS’ SURVIVAL BID LOOKS ON COURSE

- By Jack Smith

Concord cruised to victory and pulled further clear of the drop zone at the Aspect Arena.

Both sides dealt well with the windy conditions, and it was the hosts who held the slight initiative. A freeflowing move saw Steve Cawley hit a low shot that was saved by Jamie Butler.

Hemel enjoyed a fair share of possession, but failed to create before Concord took the lead.

A cross found Cawley, who looped a header over the oncoming Butler to Jordan Chiedozie, who made short work of the finish.

Bailey Vose made a simple stop to a rare Hemel attack, and the Beachboys came close to doubling their lead as Dion Sembie-Ferris ghosted down the right before setting up Amos Nasha, and his near-post poke was well saved.

The hosts took the game away from the Tudors in the second half and came close to making it two as Chiedozie was set through on the right, but scuffed his shot wide.

But they doubled the lead when Chiedozie made a marauding run and was chopped down on the edge of the box, before placing the freekick cleanly into the top-left corner.

Cawley had a golden chance to wrap things up, but his lob was well dealt with by the fingertips of Butler.
