Clarets on fire to punish Boro
CHELMSFORD hit back with a five-star show after Gosport took the lead in the fifth minute.
The Clarets now look good for the play-offs with an eight-point lead over sixthplaced Hungerford.
The hosts had failed to clear their lines early on and a loose ball fell to Ben Wright, who sent a sweet volley past Ross Fitzsimons.
Borough’s lead lasted six minutes though, as Kane Haysman stayed cool under pressure to poke in a throw.
The opening 45 minutes proved to be uninspiring, but the second half was a much more entertaining affair with the Clarets taking their chances on a regular basis.
Nine minutes into the second period, Louie Theophanous restored City’s lead. The home front man controlled well from Robbie Willmott’s dinked pass, swivelled on the spot and placed his shot past Jordan.
The Clarets increased their lead ten minutes later as substitute Anthony Church drove home a strong shot from the edge of the box.
Five minutes later and Chelmsford scored again as Chris Dickson smashed home Theophanous’ driven cross, before a second from Haysman sealed the rout.
