Crusaders’ play-off bid dented by Wings
WELLING U 0 HUNGERFORD T 0
WELLING stalled Hungerford’s bid for the play-offs with a fine display in a match that they could have won.
Early on, Warren Bentley hit a shot across goal for the visitors then Luke Williams drove in a low cross that Danny Waldren cleared off the line.
Alex Cathline had a couple of efforts that were never going to trouble Lewis Ward in the away goal before James Clark drew a save out of Chris Lewington.
Just before the break, Jordan Brown did well to beat Nat Jarvis in the air and head out a cross from Williams.
In the second half, Town were twice thwarted by Lewington – first from Warren Bentley then from Matt Day’s well-struck free kick. After that, Welling raised their game and looked more likely to win.
Substitute Pierre Joseph-Dubois headed wide, and Phil Walsh had a header cleared off the line.
Dan Walker then had a shot well saved and Joseph-Dubois netted, but was flagged off-side.
Jon Boardman headed wide for Hungerford before JosephDubois missed the best chance for Welling when heading wide from Walker’s cross.
