JACKSON THRILLER NOT ENOUGH

MARGATE 1 EASTBOURNE B 1

MARGATE were forced to settle for a point after Ira Jackson’s goal-of-theseason contender was cancelled out by Josh Hare’s late leveller for Eastbourne Borough.

The Sussex side started brightly as Jamie Taylor saw an acrobatic effort fly inches wide.

Nathaniel Pinney then squandered a better chance when he snuck in behind the home defence, but shot wide.

Margate also spurned a golden chance in the first half as Tarik Moore-Azille hit a close-range effort into the arms of Lewis Carey.

The hosts burst into life in the second half as Dean Morgan surged from deep, seeing his effort flash past the post.

Two minutes later, Margate went one better in fantastic fashion. Cutting in from the left, Jackson thumped an unstoppable effort into the far corner, his third goal in two home games.

The sides exchanged chances as Morgan and Jackson missed, while Pinney curled narrowly over for the visitors.

Hare ruined Margate’s hopes as he tore down the right before finding the net off the far upright to seal a point.
