GOALS from Harry Vince and Nat Brown ended Boston United’s season-long search for a home Saturday victory.

The strikes in a freeflowing match helped to ease the Pilgrims’ worries in the lower reaches of the table and dented ten-man Salford’s playoff ambitions.

There was no shortage of drama. City went close early when ex-Pilgrim David Norris and Mike Phenix drew saves from Ross Durrant.

In reply, Boston’s Jay Rollins, Mani Diesersuvwe and Brown all had efforts hacked off the line during a massive scramble.

United netted the opener on 12 minutes when Rollins broke free and slotted a pass for Vince to drill low beyond Jay Lynch.

Billy Priestley for City and Louis Briscoe for Boston fired high before the visitors saw Brad Barnes dismissed.

He lost his cool twice in two minutes, collecting two yellows, to leave his side depleted for the second half.

But even with their numerical disadvantage, the visitors made a good fist of things. Norris crossed for Michael Nottingham to head over and Nick Haughton skimmed a free-kick wide.

United hit back when Brown scored with a powerful 73rd-minute downward header from an Adam Chapman corner to open a 2-0 lead.
