FC HALIFAX TOWN moved to third in the league thanks to first half-goals from Dion Charles, Jordan Sinnott and Liam King.

The scoreline was reflective of the visitors’ dominance and the margin could have been greater had it not been for some great saves from FC United keeper Dave Carnell.

The opening goal was a great strike from outside the box by Charles, who curled the ball around Carnell to give the Shaymen the lead after ten minutes.

Despite being the stronger of the two teams, Halifax only had a one-goal lead after 40 minutes.

But the match changed complexion thanks to two goals in three minutes.

Sinnott made it 2-0 with four minutes left in the half and a quick free-kick then released King, who put the ball past Carnell to all but end the game as a contest before half-time.

The second half was played at a much slower pace with only a handful of halfchances as both teams settled for the result.

There was no way back for the Red Rebels against a strong Halifax side who won with such ease that they didn’t move out of second gear all afternoon.
