RANGERS TOO STRONG

- By Phil Matthews

MICKLEOVER SP 1 STAFFORD R 3

AFTER the disappointing display against Spennymoor last weekend, this was in many ways a more encouraging performance for Mickleover Sports on home turf.

The opening ten minutes suggested that this match was going to be a cracker.

Sports took the lead after six minutes as Tyler Blake pounced on a John McGrath free kick spilt by Stafford keeper Adam Whitehouse.

The lead lasted five minutes though before Izak Reid powered a free kick home from the edge of the box.

For the second home match running Sports found themselves a man down after referee Law adjudged Medi Abalimba’s tackle to be dangerous.

Abalimba’s debut for his new club had lasted 13 minutes.

Kieran Morris took advantage of poor marking in the box to head his side into the lead from a 27th minute corner.

Sports responded well and came out after the break determined to pull the tie level with Connor Hall a consistent threat in the opposing area.

However Levi Reid made the points safe with a wellangled drive into the net on 81 minutes.
