COALVILLE T 2 WORKINGTON 1

- By Joel Moore

COALVILLE TOWN’S resurgence in form continued with a superb battling win, despite playing with a man down for over half the game.

After a tight opening, Coalville took control of the game and found the opener in the 18th minute. Jack McMillan swung in a corner to the back post, leaving the unmarked Nathan Watson to head home.

Coalville continued to apply the pressure on the visitors as Watson flashed a shot just wide of the far post when left free on the right.

Watson was again in the thick of the action in the 43rd minute, however for the wrong reason as the referee brandished a red card for an alleged elbow on the opposition.

It seemed as though it would be a long half for the Ravens but they managed to soak up the Reds’ pressure, with the visitors’ best effort coming through David Symington, who struck the base of the post.

Substitute Alex Dean doubled the hosts lead in the 75th minute as fellow sub Malachi LavelleMoore’s volley deflected off Dean and rolled into the bottom corner.

The Ravens continued to defend sternly but conceded late on in injury time, as Danny Jenno’s attempted header wrong footed the Coalville stopper and trickled in.

Coalville then dug in to survive a tense ending.
