SLICK JET HITS THE NET

- By Greg Plummer

KINGS LYNN T 0 DUNSTABLE T 1

SUBSTITUTE Jet Esso was the late hero for Dunstable Town as King’s Lynn Town’s scoring problems continue.

Esso was on target less than two minutes after coming off the bench with a neat finish to seal victory for the Blues.

Ryan Harnwell, making his first team debut, looked the most likely source of a goal for the hosts in the first half.

Harnwell sliced one effort wide and fired another over the woodwork before Michael Clunan tried his luck from long range, but Lynn were unable to make their early superiority count.

Dunstable’s best chance of the first 45 minutes came midway through the half when Joshua Oyinsan was foiled by a point-blank save by Linnets keeper Alex Street.

On the stroke of half-time, Jacek Zielonka forced visiting goalkeeper Jack Smith into a fine stop to keep the score goalless going into the break.

Midway through the second half the outstretched arm of Smith denied young defender Sam Cartwright, signed on loan from League One club Peterborough United on Thursday, a goal on his debut.

Dunstable thought they had won it with 12 minutes left on the clock when Oyinsan’s effort was ruled out for offside, before Esso did just that five minutes from time.
