BULL ENJOYS A DREAM DEBUT
MERTHYR T 5 CAMBRIDGE C 0
A MERTHYR TOWN side depleted through injury and suspension was still good enough to brush aside a very limited Cambridge City outfit.
The win saw the Martyrs boost their goal difference as they moved three points clear of Banbury United in the final play-off slot.
The first half saw Merthyr enjoying almost of the play, but an unfamiliar starting line-up with regular midfielder Eliot Richards playing as the main striker created little threat.
But the deadlock was broken just before the break when leftback Scott Barrow curled a free-kick over City’s defensive wall with goalkeeper Dean Snedker unable to keep it out.
A double Martyrs substitution on the hour took the game away from the Lilywhites.
First Ian Traylor laid the ball onto substitute Josh Bull, who unselfishly squared it for fellow Martyrs sub Ryan Prosser to notch his 150th goal for the club.
Bull, signed this week from Welsh League club Cwmbran Celtic, then made it a dream start in his first Merthyr game with a cool finish after Richards put him in.
Traylor then turned in a cross from winger Corey Jenkins before slotting home a last minute penalty.
