REVENGE IS SWEET AS JONES SWOOPS

- By Jon Venner

PROMOTION chasers Witton gained revenge over their conquerors from the previous weekend when a William Jones header on 87 minutes secured the points against ten men. Albion had taken the lead against the flow of the game on 21 minutes when Steve Tames took advantage of Kyle Rowley’s misplaced back-header to show good composure.

Rugby were soon back on level terms, though, after another defensive mix-up, this time between Witton

keeper Danny Roberts and Scott Lycett, which handed David Kolodynski a simple finish.

When Lycett clipped Kolodynski’s heels in the box, the same Town striker was denied from the spot by a Roberts save.

A quiet start to the second period sparked into life on the hour when Rugby’s Aaron Moses-Garvey was dismissed after appearing to flick his head at Paul Williams and, just when it looked like they were going to hang on, Jones threw himself at a loose ball to score the late winner.
