WINCHESTER’S last mathematical hopes of reaching the play-offs were extinguished when they went down 3-0 to Barnstaple.

The visitors took the lead in the third minute when a cross from Craig Allen was deflected past his own goalkeeper by Jamie Ford.

Winchester came close on a couple of occasions at the start of the second half, but Barnstaple came more into the game as the half progressed with Jack Jenkins and Liam Gregory coming close.

Barnstaple doubled the lead in the 75th minute when Ryan Turner was fouled and Gregory dispatched the resulting penalty, before substitute Sean Copp made it 3-0 two minutes from time.
