SOLIHULL MOORS 0 ALDERSHOT T 2

- By David Lawrence

MIDFIELD marvel Kundai Benyu bagged a goal in each half just days after agreeing to stay with promotion-chasing Aldershot until the end of the season.

The Ipswich Town youngster was the star turn for the visitors and would have been celebrating a hat-trick had it not been for a string of fine saves from Danny Lewis in the Solihull goal.

Aldershot boss Gary Waddock brought him off 15 minutes from time to rapturous applause from more than 700 travelling supporters and the manager said he was delighted to see the teenager on the scoresheet. “We are very pleased that we were able to extend his loan period,” Waddock said. “He has to perform and he’s done that since he’s been here. I’m really pleased he’s got the two goals today. “We created a lot of chances but the difference from when we played Guiseley was that we took them today. We’ve kept a clean sheet, scored twice and picked up three points so all in all, I’m very pleased.”

The breakthrough came on 28 minutes when dangerman Benyu was given too much space 25 yards from goal and his powerful shot flew past the Moors keeper.

Lewis denied him a second three minutes later before Solihull skipper Liam Daly forced a fine save from visiting keeper Jake Cole at the other end. And the Shots won it nine minutes into the second half when Benyu was on hand to jink past Franklin and power another effort beyond Lewis. “They’re probably the best team we’ve played this season and we didn’t have an answer to what they had, admitted Moors boss Liam McDonald. “We’re not in good form and the last thing we needed was to play these.”
