RAVENS SEE OFF SORRY BARROW

- By Sam Elliott

THERE was no play-off Silva lining for feeble Barrow after Bromley’s latest Sho stopper.

Ravens striker Tobi Sho-Silva scored twice again to all-but end the Bluebirds hopes of the top five and lift Neil Smith’s men into tenth. Barrow boss Paul Cox refused to rule his team out, but with six points to make up in the final three matches they now need a miracle.

“I don’t now know to be honest,” he said when quizzed about their chances. “It’s kind of irrelevant to me at the minute. I’m just looking at the next game and looking for players with the mindset to be able to combat tiredness and mental fatigue.

“We weren’t good enough, it’s as simple as that. The ability to not follow instruction was killer for us.” Bromley have now won three in a row and have scored eight goals in their last two matches. What Cox did not need was for his players to press the self-destruct button. After dire defending from Blair Turgott’s corner, the visitors decided to give striker George Porter five yards of space. A simple guided header into the net, Barrow were chasing their tail from the ninth minute. When Jordan Williams was upended by Connor Dymond ten minutes later it offered false hope. Not long after Ritchie Bennett thumped the penalty in to equalise, the excellent Turgott did the same after winning his own spot-kick at the other end. His free-kick in the 35th minute was nodded on by Lee Minshull and the lurking Sho-Silva had an easy finish for 3-1. He tapped in Shane McLoughlin’s brilliant low cross five minutes from the end to complete Barrow’s misery. Bromley boss Neil Smith said: “They’ve exceeded expectations, not only today but this season. We wanted to reward the fans and we have done with two fantastic wins against two big clubs – Wrexham last week and now Barrow.”
