DAG & RED v SUTTON UNITED

3pm kick-off at Victoria Road

-

DAGENHAM rewarded their players for Good Friday’s “first class” 3-1 win over Boreham Wood… with an Easter Sunday training session!

There will be no let up from the Daggers ahead of Sutton’s visit on Monday – and no Easter egg munching either.

“The boys will rest on Saturday and be back in training on Sunday,” manager John Still confirmed. “We’ll be ready for Sutton.

“It’s never over ’till it’s over and all we can do is our own job and make sure we confirm our top-five place.

“We have to win as many games and as many points as we can to get into the play-offs.

“It’s a crucial stage of the season and there’s a bit of pressure on the players, but they dealt with it well at Boreham Wood and I’m sure they will carry that on.

“We can’t sit here and say it’s job done and there are no plans to take our foot of the gas whatsoever. It’s a league where anything can happen.”

Sutton should now be safe following Good Friday’s conclusive victory over Gateshead.

They have been searching for that crucial victory for a few weeks and they can rest easy now after the 3-0 win confirmed a second season in the National League following their South title success last April.

“It will be a tough game, but we go there in a good frame of mind after Good Friday,” said Us manager Paul Doswell, who knows his side have a good record against the league’s stronger clubs this season.

“They’ve had two good wins after the disappointment of losing to Lincoln and will be looking to try and gain that top-three spot.

“But even though it would be tempting to relax after the Gateshead match, we’ve got players in the dressing room already saying that they’re looking forward to the Dagenham game and wanting to play.

“There are several of them pressing for a place who could come in nice and fresh. so we go over the wanting another win.”
