EASTLEIGH v BROMLEY

3pm kick-off at the Silverlake

-

BROMLEY’S ever-improving players have been told: only tenth will do now!

Manager Neil Smith has been thrilled with recent efforts and Good Friday’s excellent 4-1 victory over Barrow was their third in a row.

The Ravens’ ten goals in that time has catapulted them into the top ten – and that’s where the Hayes Lane boss wants them to end up.

Bromley are going for another three points at Eastleigh on Monday and there will be no let up despite the fixture having little riding on it.

“Our attitude is that we’ve got a little league to finish on top of now,” said Smith, in charge since replacing Mark Goldberg last February.

“Macclesfield probably have ninth place, the gap is big, but we are in tenth and that’s where I want us to finish.

“That means we need to perform in our final three games, starting with Eastleigh which is always a difficult place to go.”

Smith added: “If we can play like we did in the last three games against York, Wrexham and Barrow then we’ve got a great chance.

“There’s a lot of energy in the team and they don’t want the season to end at the moment.”

Richard Hill has helped turn things around for Eastleigh since returning to the club and with their home record miserable, his aim is to give the fans a good day.

The Spitfires boss says a top-half finish can numb the pain of their dreadful campaign.

“Bank holiday weekends are always difficult with two quick games. At least we have two days off before we play Bromley,” Hill said.

“We don’t have a large squad so I’m not likely to be making many changes from Friday’s game. We’ll obviously be looking for a win as we want to finish the season with a decent run of results.

“We will go into the game looking for a win and a better performance than we gave on Friday. We need to show the supporters a good performance.”
