Who’s the stand-out player of Steps 3/4?

- By Matt Badcock

CHAMPIONS are being confirmed by the week and the play-off picture is starting to get clearer – Steps 3 & 4 have been as gripping as ever.

The players have provided the entertainment on the pitch and now we need your help to recognise the stand-out star.

Brandon Hire is sponsoring this season’s Step 3/4 Player of the Year at our National Game Awards, in association with SCL Education.

The winner will be presented with their prize at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, May 17, as we celebrate another thrilling campaign.

Suggestions

There are a lot of players in contention, so here are just a few suggestions. Blyth Spartans scooped the Evo-Stik NPL title last weekend. Alun Armstrong’s side have scored more than 100 league goals this season – Dan Maguire has 26 of them. Could the man known as ‘Nippa’ be your choice? Or what about Spartans legend Robbie Dale? He’s had another great season at Croft Park.

Luke Benbow’s goals have put Stourbridge in the promotion mix, while in the NPL Division One North, James Walshaw – a previous NGA winner when he was at Guiseley – has found the back of the net regularly for Farsley Celtic.

In the Southern Premier, it’s been the Sandell & Pratt show at Chippenham Town – do Andy or Dave get your vote or will Leamington, Hitchin or Slough ensure the pair don’t dominate this race too?

Bognor Regis Town lost a huge amount of goals through player departures last summer. Midfielder James Fraser has stepped up to the plate, however, with 21 this term. Top of the goalscoring charts in that division is Leiston’s Matt Blake, who has made the jump from Step 5 to 3 look easy with 29 strikes.

It’s been a remarkable season at Dulwich Hamlet with their run to the FA Trophy quarter-finals, as well as a promotion push. Ashley Carew has the eye for a spectacular goal. How about an award too? Remember, this isn’t a final list but some suggestions to get you thinking. The only way your favourite will win is if you vote. So get your thinking cap on, tell your friends and let us know.
