FC HALIFAX TOWN secured their play-off spot thanks to a comfortable win over mid-table Curzon Ashton.

Town’s right-back Kevin Roberts was the main source of their productivity as the former Cambridge United man had a hand in all three goals – but the Shaymen could’ve had more.

Dion Charles had the game’s first chance when he found himself one-on-one with Hakan Burton but the Curzon keeper saved well with his legs.

Darren Clarke then fired over before Town’s early pressure told in the 21st minute. Roberts roamed forward and delivered a low ball into the box which was seemingly turned in by a Nash defender, although Richard Peniket was credited with the goal.

Burton had to be at his best to deny Nathan Hotte’s thunderous volley but after Roberts and Matty Kosylo combined down the right, on-loan Fleetwood star Charles was in the right place to head into the roof of the net at the far post.

Charles, Kosylo and Hotte were off target late in the first half but Town extended their lead on 63 minutes. Roberts’ cross was turned out for a corner but, after Jordan Sinnott’s set-piece caused panic, Danny Hone found the bottom corner.
