Hatters have hope in fight to promote

BRADFORD PA 0 STOCKPORT COUNTY 2

STOCKPORT COUNTY kept alive their play-off hopes by beating Bradford Park Avenue at a sunny Horsfall Stadium.

But the home side should have broken the deadlock.

Midfielder Nicky Wroe found Gavin Rothery with a pass and the on-loan winger was unable to get a shot on target after being denied by County goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe.

The Hatters looked more dangerous after the break and Jimmy Ball was unable to score from close range thanks to a fine save from Ed Hall.

Jim Gannon’s men then took the lead on 81 minutes. With the ball being kicked about in the box, County substitute Josh Amis fired the ball into the bottom corner to land a decisive blow late on.

With added time just shown to the crowd, the away side doubled their advantage and secured victory.

Avenue defender Matt Hill was chased down by the impressive Danny Lloyd and the winger lifted the ball over Hall into the back of the net.

The result left County two points out of the play-off places with a home fixture against Gloucester City to come.
