GRESLEY SUFFER HEAVY DEFEAT

LEEK Town inflicted a 5-1 thrashing on lowly Gresley but not before Blues lost leading scorer Tim Grice for the second time in the opening minute of a game within two weeks.

Leek opened the scoring on five minutes through Tom France, who stretched the lead 12 minutes later with the aid of a slight deflection.

The home side had a goal disallowed for offside but in the 36th minute Johnny Higham set up Sam Grimshaw..

Leek continued to push forward after the break and went 4-0 up on 62 minutes via Darren Chadwick’s penalty.

Blues completed the rout on 72 minutes when Dan Shelley drove home before Keenan King netted a consolatio­n.
