BROWN BOWS OUT IN STYLE

- By Mike Draxler

BIGGLESWADE TOWN gave retiring goalkeeper Ian Brown a send-off to remember as they thrashed Frome Town.

On an emotionally charged day, the game soon caught fire as Tony Burnett scored from six yards on three minutes.

The contest only smouldered from then to half-time, but the Robins became more adventurous after the break and tested Brown to the full.

The visitors were given a lifeline with 16 minutes to go after they were awarded a penalty against Robbie Parker for handball.

Brown initially pulled off a great save to stop Jake Jackson from the spot, but the ball rebounded straight back to him and he followed in to score – a cruel way to deny the Waders legend a clean sheet before he hangs up his gloves.

Biggleswade duly changed their line-up to a more attacking unit and they soon profited.

Burnett added his second on 81 minutes, slotting in from a Rhys Hoenes cross.

Substitute Luke Emery doubled the Waders’ lead three minutes later, converting from another Hoenes cross.

Hoenes was again involved during stoppage time as his cross found Emery, who sent the ball through to captain Craig Daniel to make it four.
