PHILLIPS GIFTS WIN TO RAILWAYMEN
A COSTLY mistake by Mangotsfield keeper Steve Phillips with just five minutes remaining, saw The Railwaymen earn a deserved win at Cossham Street.
Didcot took a 26th-minute lead through Ben Whitehead, whose low drive found the far corner, and in the 69th minute, George Reid’s drive made it 2-0.
Matt Groves gave the hosts some hope with a low drive in the 75th minute, and just four minutes later, the predatory Lewis Powell flicked home a near-post header to level.
A high through ball caught Phillips at the edge of his area, and his attempted header did not clear, giving Whitehead a simple winning goal.
